Hycontrol Sure- Sense+ The SureSense+ is an ad- vanced wall-mounted foam controller, which connects to up to three sensors mounted in a single or multiple process vessel(s). This multi- probe capability allows for fully independent monitor- ing and dosing control of up to three tanks from a single controller. Suitable for all aspects of wastewater treat- ment, SureSense+ allows for accurate control of aqueous foam by sensing and dif- ferentiating between foam and liquid contact. Utilising one of a selection of control algorithms, the controller can activate a dosing pump to either keep the foam at a fi xed level or to reduce the foam height as required. OTHER TOP PICKS FOR SENSORS AND INSTRUMENTATION Next month: Pipes and drainage THE DETAILS ATi SiteBox ● complete water quality monitoring and control system in a portable box● alternative to traditional instrumentation panels● typically generates live data within 30 minutes What is it? Following consultations with a major water company, ATi UK has launched SiteBox, which it says is the industry's fi rst full monitoring and control system, in a portable box. It can be used in a variety of applications, from drinking water treatment to process water in the food industry, all housed in a carry-on luggage- sized box. What's good about it? In contrast to the size and complexity of traditional panel- mounted solutions, its modular nature enables users to order a bespoke monitoring system that fi ts individual site requirements. SiteBox can be used on its own as the input to a control system or alternatively as an independent monitoring system that polices existing water quality monitors. What else does it off er? SiteBox off ers years of run-time on batteries, along with a 12-24 VDC mains power option. It has a small footprint, along with low water usage, and can be confi gured for dual or triple validation, multi- stream (1- 3), up to eight sensors and over 20 parameters. The Knowledge Sensors and instrumentation Smart Storm UV254 Smart Meter Smart Storm has partnered with Photonic Measurements to design and develop the UV254 Smart Meter, which incorporates advanced sensor technology to measure COD, BOD, TOC and DOC. Smart Storm says the UV254 meter is a fraction of the price of comparative mainstream products and is ideal for water and wastewater applications. Using UV technology, the ad- vanced UV254 sensor is able to detect the organic species found in water and wastewa- ter, in particular the organic material that can cause the most harm. Organic water parameters such as TOC, DOC, BOD and COD can be cor- related to the absorption UV light at 254nm. VEGAWELL submers- ible pressure sensor VEGA Controls has announced that the VEGAWELL submers- ible pressure sensor is the fi rst and only transmitter of this type to be fully WRAS certifi ed and meets the requirements of Regulation 31 (4)(b). The WRAS certifi cation means it will not contaminate or har- bour microbial growth when used in potable or drinking wa- ter, enabling it to be deployed anywhere on the water supply chain. With ranges from 0.1 bar to 60 bar, it is extremely versatile. Suitable applications include clean water reservoirs, pump control, storage or small header tanks and associated pipework, found either in the water company supply or end users' onsite storage or 'towns water' buff er tanks.
