It works by introducing the 'pea' into a water meter chamber, inside a leaking pipe, which has been isolated at the customer's internal stop tap; the water supply is turned back on and the flow carries the Aquapea to the degraded area, bonding to the leak. Auger – which serves the insurance industry for drainage and water mains claims across the UK – has the exclusive licence in the insurance sector for AquaPea and has said the technology achieves a complete effec- tive repair without excavation in 40 per cent of cases. Winner: ELGIN, MORRISON UTILITY SERVICES & YORKSHIRE WATER – INNOVATIVE STREETWORKS PLANNING PORTAL (SPP) Working alongside Elgin, the company behind roadworks.org, Morrison Utility Services developed the Streetworks Planning Portal. The SPP is a map-based integrated planning application and capable of automatically presenting multiple datasets in a number of different views or data layers, which clearly visualise information relating to particular aspects of a job such as proximity to rail crossings. Using the SPP, planners can interrogate a 'one-stop shop' planning map capable of visualising all datasets on Google Maps, significantly simplifying and expediting planning. While still in the early stages, the SPP has brought about increased productivity and reduced costs. Most Innovative Water & Wastewater Technology of the Year What the judges said: "This entry delivered good evidence, good early results and good customer impact." What the judges said: "This technology is really clever and answers a clear need." 9
