20 | 24TH - 30TH MAY 2019 | UTILITY WEEK High viz With the commissioning of its 84th and final 7MW Siemens Gamesa turbine on 15 May, Scotland's largest offshore windfarm has been com- pleted on time and under budget a•er three years of construction. The 588MW Beatrice windfarm in the Outer Moray Firth, around 13km off the coast of Caithness, is a joint venture between SSE Renewables (40 per cent), Copenhagen Infrastruc- ture Partners (35 per cent) and Red Rock Power (25 per cent). Each turbine stretches 188m from sea level to blade tip – the equivalent of three Nelson's Columns – and is supported on jacket foundations.
