This is the only event dedicated to the evolving needs of the Scottish water sector and brings together more than 150 key stakeholders to share insights, showcase excellence and drive the industry forward to ensure it becomes a dominant force in water worldwide. 40,000 Yorkshire Water is spending £10 million to take the number of acoustic loggers in its underground pipe network to 40,000 – more than any other water company in the world. During a trial of the technology, 600 of the devices installed in the pipe network in West Yorkshire helped to identify 35 leaks in one month. Yorkshire Water is targeting a 15 per cent leakage reduction by next year, and a further 25 per cent reduction by 2025. 20M Thames Water is saving 20 million litres of water a day a er making 250,000 'smarter home visits'. Since 2015, the company has installed almost three quarters of a million water saving devices and fixed more than 14,000 leaking toilets and taps free of charge. CONTRACT WINS United Utilities has announced that it has awarded seven long-term contracts for maintenance work. The six-year contracts, which began in April, have been awarded for maintenance on the company's water and wastewater network, which has been carried out for the past nine years by Amey Utility Services. Morrison Utility Services will be responsible for the north region water network, Sapphire Utility Solutions will look a er the north region wastewater network, T&K Gallagher becomes south region water network partner and Amey is handling the south region wastewater network. The company has also appointed Amey, King Con- struction, MUS and T&K Gallagher as partners on small water projects; Amey, Bethell Group, Sapphire and T&K Gallagher as small wastewater project partners; Amey, O'Connor Utilities and T&K Gallagher as specialist water services partners; and Bethell Group, Sapphire and T&K Gallagher as specialist wastewater services partners. Yorkshire Water has awarded assurance framework contracts to Atkins and an Arup-Costain joint venture. Atkins will implement an assurance model that ensures compliance to engineering and asset standards and quality scope and risk, as well as environment, sustain- ability and ecology. The Arup-Costain JV will provide expertise in CDM (construction, design and management) regulation compliance, design phase process and construction site safety to help Yorkshire Water address key affordability challenges in the efficient delivery of its AMP7 investment programme.
