22 | 17TH - 23RD MAY 2019 | UTILITY WEEK High viz AW-Energy's WaveRoller renewable energy generator – which was recently demonstrated at the Surge project in Portugal – has been issued with a manufacturing certificate by Lloyd's Register. WaveRoller operates up to 2km from the shore at depths between 8 and 20 metres. It converts ocean wave energy to electricity, and a single unit – one panel and power take-off com- bination – is rated between 350 and 1,000kW. Surveyors from Lloyd's Register inspected WaveRoller production to ensure manufacturing processes met the specified codes and standards, and that the components matched accepted drawings.
