20 | 3RD - 9TH MAY 2019 | UTILITY WEEK High viz An intricate and proactive stakeholder engagement programme, coupled with care- ful pre-planning and ecological sensitivity, has seen infrastructure specialist Barhale complete the connection of a foul water sewer pipe to a new housing development of around 600 properties. The 14-month, £1.4 million project, in collaboration with Yorkshire Water and Ken Rodney Construction, has involved laying 1.37km of pipe under a golf course, over a river, across Duchy of Lancaster land and down a residential street on the north edge of Scarborough, North Yorkshire. Of the 1,370m of pipe laid, 620m that runs under Northcliffe Golf Club and adja- cent Duchy of Lancaster land involved direc- tional drilling; the rest was auger bored.
