The water company found the ancient settlement containing historic artefacts while preparing to lay new water pipes to protect the future of Letcombe Brook, near Wantage. Evidence of dwellings and items such as pottery, cutting implements and a decorative comb were also found. The items have been removed by archeologists. ENERGY Calvin Capital buys Lowri Beck Smart meter installer Lowri Beck has been acquired by Calvin Capi- tal for an undisclosed sum, subject to conditions. The move will see Lowri Beck join Calvin to create an end-to-end market offering comprising the installation, servicing, managing and funding of domestic metering assets. It also provides a platform for the future funding, deployment and management of a wider range of digital energy assets, including battery storage and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Currently, Lowri Beck installs and exchanges more than 300,000 domestic meters annually, collects data from another five million meters and is involved in the nationwide smart meter rollout. WATER Yorkshire Water assists crews with moorland fires Yorkshire Water has been assisting efforts to put out the moorland fires that began raging over the bank holiday weekend. Helicopters have been allowed to draw water from the Panorama reservoir on Ilkley Moor and the company says this has not affected customer supply. A Yorkshire Water spokesper- son said: "It has had no impact on the supply of water to Graincliffe water treatment works as Pano- rama reservoir is a compensatory reservoir and the raw water main from it is used infrequently." ENERGY Engie UK CEO Wilfrid Petrie to step down Wilfrid Petrie is to step down as the chief executive of Engie UK and Ireland at the end of April. He will remain with Engie to take up a new position on the group's Paris-based executive committee, where he will also lead the development of the B2B client solutions business in France. Petrie joined the Engie group in 1999 and is a graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique of France. He has held various management posi- tions in France and the US. He will be succeeded on 1 May by Nicola Lovett, who has worked at Engie since 2013. £72 million Energy efficiency investor SDCL Energy Efficiency Income Trust (SEEIT) has raised £72 million in a share placing to fund future acquisitions. 350kW A 350kW-ready fast-charging station has been opened in Sunderland by Amsterdam-based charging company Fastned. £1.4 million UK Power Networks has announced it is investing £1.4 million at its Sundridge substation near Sevenoaks in Kent for new equipment and a 26-tonne transformer.
