This was predicted by the leadership of the company, since the bumper turnover in 2016/17 was to a large extent the result of a significant contract to construct a new ferry terminal at Brodick on the Isle of Arran. A privately owned civil engineering contractor founded in 1964, it focuses on the water, wastewater, marine and energy sectors in Scotland. Key clients include councils, government bodies, water companies and private clients, with civil engineering and infrastructure projects delivered from concept to completion in both urban areas and remote rural locations. Current projects include the £12.5 million refurbishment project on the Katrine Aqueduct for Scottish Water. The aqueduct, which takes water to treatment works that supply 1.3 million people in Glasgow and west central Scotland, was built in the Victorian era to help transform the health of citizens and continues in full use to this day. The refurbishment project includes structural repairs of three stretches of tunnel and a bridge, improvements to the lining of tunnels and repairs and refurbishments of control valves. It is also carrying out marine works for the £250 million regeneration of Queen's Quay in Clydebank, which is being partly funded by West Dunbartonshire Council. It has played a central role in a series of projects over five years to prevent flooding in the Greater Glasgow area. In the water sector, George Leslie carries out large diameter water main and sewer replacement as well as tunnelling, deep pumping stations and the construction of water and wastewater treatment works. Its in-house pipeline services division complements its core water-related activities providing CCTV and pipeline jetting expertise.
