16 | 5TH - 11TH APRIL 2019 | UTILITY WEEK High viz Peel Environmental has signed a deal with Progressive Energy to build a £150 million bio-substitute natural gas plant at the 55-hectare Protos energy park near Ellesmere Port. The plant will generate renewable gas from bio-resources including unre- cyclable wood and refuse-derived fuel. The gas will power up to 1,000 low- carbon HGVs and buses. Peel and Progressive Energy have submitted a planning application to configure the plant to produce renew- able hydrogen in future, potentially linking into Cadent's plans to build a hydrogen network in the region as part of its HyNet project.
