Specialist salad producers Bry- an's Salads, based in Lancashire needed a big solution to help them meet their expanding needs. The family owned busi- ness grows and supplies pre- packed salad and vegetables for both the retail and food service sector. Their existing water sup- ply was pumped around the site from a 45,000L rubber lined, Case Study – Creating much needed space and increasing volume circular, metal tank, which took up much needed space in the raw material fridges. Precolor's experienced sta soon came up with the solution for Bryan's Salads needs, a large one piece, water storage tank. The 90,000 litre tank was a 100mm Pre- insulated tank con- structed entirely of GRP with all external supports & 'HCFC' & 'CFC' free insulation foam encap- sulated in the nal laminate. The internal dimensions of the tank :- 13000 x 2500 x 2000mm (l/w/h). A WRAS Approved tank was essential to ensure compliance with the necessary BRC Global Standards. Precolor has the largest range of WRAS approved one- piece tanks available in the UK. Case Study - Precolor helps Worcester Warriors to meet water demand Precolor were approached to manufacture the water storage tank needed to irrigate the new training pitches at the Sixways Stadium, the home of Worcester Warriors RFU. To irrigate the training pitches, they potentially needed 210,000 litres per week, per pitch, to feed the new sprinkler system for each of the new pitches. Rather than pull this quantity of water on demand, directly from the mains, the club management agreed that they wanted to keep a vol- ume of water available in case their supply could not meet the demand at peak times. As space was limited, they wanted to bury the storage tank below ground, but still ensure it was strong enough to take the weight of agricultural tra c. Using their experience of manufacturing the largest range of one-piece tanks in the UK, Precolor manufactured and installed this as a suitable solution to help keep the new pitches in a tip top condition. A large 60,000 litre, WRAS approved, one piece, under- ground, break tank was built the internal dimensions of which were 8500x3000x2000mm (l/w/h). The tank was constructed entirely of GRP with all external supports encapsulated in the nal laminate. A marine plywood in the base and lid was incorporated which added further strengthen- ing ribs to the heavy-duty lid ensuring it was strong enough to cope with the loads it would be carrying. Once the tank had been lowered into the ground the hole was back lled with concrete to o er extra support. Precolor Products started life as a partnership over 50 years ago manufacturing mannequins & swimming pools. This was the stepping stone from which they now manufacture the largest range of WRAS approved one- piece rectangular tanks in the UK, together with a range of semi sectional tanks and sectional tank panels that can be made to site speci c sizes. Precolor also manufacture a complete range of Plant tanks, GRP modular kiosks, cabinets and housings. STORAGE TANKS About us The Worshipful Company of Water Conservators is one of 110 Livery Companies in the City of London. The Company is unique in representing the water, waste and environmental sectors in the City and works closely with the Lord Mayor in ensuring that the voice and important work of these important sectors is heard and understood. Precolor, under the guidance of their Managing Director, Dylan Barker, built a 3.5m high "Magic Tap" for the Company to represent the use of technology and recy- cling in the water sector. The tap, which always attracts much atten- tion, has been used in the Lord Mayors Show and more recently at the launch of an environmental initiative at the Guildhall in the City of London, entitled "Taking Con- trol of Your Environment". The Master Water Conserva- tor, Simon Catford, said "Precolor have demonstrated their excel- lent manufacturing skills in the building of the Magic Tap, which is much admired and the source of considerable discussion about how it works whenever it is displayed".
