UK Power Networks staff have co-designed a new scouting badge aimed at
helping young people become more energy aware. Scouts will be able to earn
the local knowledge badge by learning how to stay safe around substations
and cables, and by increasing local awareness of the free help available to
those in the community who rely on electricity. The UKPN staff, who are also
scout leaders, will be testing it with their local groups, including the 25th
Ealing, Thurston and Rendlesham Scout Groups.

WINTER RESILIENCE DASHBOARD 2018/19
TOTAL NUMBERS FOR STORMS ALI, BRONAGH, CALLUM, DEIRDRE, ERIK, FREYA AND GARETH
Electricity networks demonstrated their resilience this winter, recording a 99.9 per cent reliability rate despite a
string of storms battering Britain, according to figures from the ENA and the Met Office.
Extreme conditions, including heavy downpours and windspeeds of more than 90mph in some areas, saw
only a fraction of connections – at 0.23 per cent – affected. Average power cut times came in at 35 minutes,
with more than half a million connections restored and 605,546 priority services register customers contacted.
