On 15 March, Red Nose Day, one of the
domes of Future Biogas's Grange Farm
Energy biogas plant was illuminated
in red light, officially making it the
biggest ever red nose in the history of
Comic Relief.
Measuring 38m in diameter and
17m tall, the red nose was as tall and
wide as three double-decker buses.
The 5MW anaerobic digestion
plant in Spridlington, Licolnshire,
is normally used to turn crops into
biomethane which is injected into the
national gas grid.
The creation of the giant red
nose was the culmination of the
company's fundraising activities for
Comic Relief, which also involved
a "splat the management" event in
which the senior team from Future
Biogas plant sniffs
out some fun
