A Sponsorship/Exhibitor Brochure can also be downloaded China desalination assoCiation Quindao desalination event gets ida support The International Desalination Association (IDA) has announced its support for the 2012 Qingdao International Desalination Conference, jointly organized by China Desalination Association (CDA) and other groups, and supported by Asia-Pacific Desalination Association and related countries. Set to take place on 26-28 June 2012, this will be the seventh staging of one of China���s major desalination events. The annual conference aims to build an exchange platform for the most advanced technology in desalination and water reuse, contributing to the industry���s development in China and other countries around the world. IDA President Corrado Sommariva recently attended a meeting at CDA���s office in Qingdao to formulate IDA���s plans to support this year���s conference. Several IDA directors are expected to participate in the sessions. Papers have been invited and the deadline for abstracts is 15 March 2012. Details about the conference will be available soon on IDA���s website, www.idadesal.org, as well as on the CDA website, www.cda-apdwr2009.com. Major Chinese desalination week in Guangzhou The China Desalination Association (CDA) is cooperating with the Qingdao International Desalination Center and the China Foreign Trade Exhibition Corp to organize the Guangzhou Water Week on 23-25 February 2012. CDA and the European Desalination Association will stage the China Summit Forum on Water Development 2012 during the week. The Water Week will have three major themes: desalination and water reuse equipment and technology; fluid automation and automatic control equipment; and commercial and home water purification installations. The show is the first large exhibition in China on the theme of desalination and is expecting 2,000 industry leaders and experts from over 30 countries. Japan desalination assoCiation Jda/apda joint conference scheduled for February The Asia Pacific Desalination Association is holding its annual conference this year in Japan on 16-17 February 2012, where it will be combined with the conference of the Japan Desalination Association. Guest speakers will include Prof Tony Fane (Australia), Prof Enrico Drioli (Italy), Prof Yoram Cohen (USA), Prof ChungHak Lee (Korea), Prof Baoan Li (China). For contact details, see events listing. | 44 | Desalination & Water Reuse | February-March 2012 south Central MeMbrane assoCiation pflugerville location for sCMa membrane workshop An introduction to the use of membrane technology in water and wastewater treatment is being offered in a Texas workshop being held by the South Central Membrane Association (SCMA) on 9 February 2012. To be held at the City of Pflugerville���s Central Wastewater Treatment Plant, the workshop will include both classroom and in-plant sessions. Starting with theory, uses, types, styles and performance of membrane separation systems, the programme moves on to membrane water chemistry and membrane pretreatment. After lunch, the workshop will look at troubleshooting, cleaning and sanitizing, as well as data collection and normalization. It will conclude with a plant tour and training. The workshop will focus on membrane technology and the membrane elements that are used for WTP facilities. Venue: Hilton Hotel. southwest MeMbrane operators assoCiation swMoa chooses san diego for 2013 symposium San Diego, California, has been chosen by the Southwest Membrane Operators Association (SWMOA) for its Annual Symposium in 2013. The symposium dates are 22-24 April 2013, and the venue will be the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina.
