20 | 8TH - 14TH MARCH 2019 | UTILITY WEEK High viz Renewable energy company Orsted has signed a long-term agreement with Northumbrian Water that will see the water company take almost a third of its renewable energy demand from Race Bank offshore wind farm. The ten-year deal, which began on 1 March, is said to be the first power purchase agreement (PPA) of its kind in the UK and is an expansion of a renewable electricity supply agreement between the companies that started in April 2018. Northumbrian will source 30 per cent of its renewable electricity directly from Race Bank, which is off the coast of Norfolk. The water company said the sustainable and renewable energy strategy builds on its existing solar, hydro, gas-to-grid and advanced anaerobic digestion power generation.
