ELECTRICITY Rampion offshore windfarm opens Rampion offshore windfarm has been officially opened at a ceremony in Brighton. The 400MW installation is 13-25km off the Sussex coast. First power was generated in November 2017, with all 116 turbines up and running by April. Energy and clean growth min- ister Claire Perry said: "It's great to see the south coast's first offshore windfarm opening, powering around 350,000 homes, creating hundreds of high-quality jobs and building on our reputation as a world leader in this sector." Eon is the majority owner, holding a 50.1 per cent share. The remaining stake is split between Canadian energy firm Enbridge (24.9 per cent) and UK Green Investment Rampion (25 per cent) – a consortium comprising Green Investment Group, an infrastructure investment fund managed by Macquarie and the Universities Superannuation Scheme. Eon now owns almost 1.2GW of renewable generation capacity in the UK. First Utility had earlier acquired Usio's customers when it was cho- sen as supplier of last resort. Octopus said it would use the AI to create half-hourly forecasts for customers' individual electricity use. Greg Jackson, chief executive of Octopus Energy, said the company had taken an "in-depth look" at what Usio had built and identified that smart decisions had been made during the construction of the platform. He also said that with more volatile generation, it becomes "ever-more important" to match complex consumption patterns against complex generation. Octopus has also taken on the technical team at Usio that built and Storm damage at a glance The Energy Networks Association (ENA) has launched its Winter Resilience Committee to help protect more than six million people enrolled in the Priority Services Register. The committee, which will work with the Met Office, National Energy Action and Age UK, will publish a dash- board aer each named storm that hits the UK, the first of its kind to collate data from every energy network in the country. The dashboard will be used as a resource for customers and policymakers to understand how these storms affect the country, and to track the resilience of British energy networks.
