Water. desalination + reuse December 2018 The Quarterly 7 What happens next? What did people say? The editor Oil and gas, mining: bring the technology People say that the water industry is slow to adopt new technologies. No doubt that can be true. But there are bucketloads of new ideas out there gaining traction. From laboratory to commercial installation - at every step along the way - scientists, engineers, inventors and innovators are solving water challenges. Industry is a focus. Cor- porations can be swi er than utilities to adopt new technologies. In the US, oil and gas produced water is in the spotlight (see page 16). In mining, demand for water solutions is high: Mines are water hungry and the industry regularly sees high-profi le wastewa- ter spillages. Water in Mining We want to support technology providers to reach industry. That's why we're hosting Water in Mining, a new conference and exhibition tailored to help mining companies meet technology provid- ers. These companies are hungry for solutions. Water in Mining takes place on 9 to 10 April 2019, in Toronto, Canada. https://waterinmining.net Further details on page 37 Evoqua attributed its lower-than- anticipated revenues to "acquisition system integration issues, supply chain disruptions infl uenced by tariff s, and an extended delay on a large aquatics project." It remains to be seen whether the courts will agree that that reasoning is enough to get it o the hook with investors. In early November, Hyfl ux's secured creditor Maybank approved an extension to the deadline for signing a binding agreement on the sale of Tuaspring, to 29 November. As Water. Desalination + reuse went to press, it remained unclear if a deal could be reached on a price for the plant that was acceptable to both buyer and seller.
