The goal was to provide a sustainable source of water to replenish a popular recreational lake, freeing up potable supplies. The project cost was $5.1 million. CHARLES E. MEYER DESALINATION PLANT City of Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara County Population 440,000 Desalination plant was originally built during the early 1990s and re-opened in May 2017. The capital cost to reactivate the facility was $72 million. Water is delivered to households and businesses in City of Santa Barbara. PISMO BEACH DEMONSTRATION PROJECT City of Pismo Beach, San Luis Obispo County Population 280,000 Installation at an existing wastewater treatment plant is demonstrating IDE's Eco-Reuse technology for municipal wastewater reuse during 2018. Project results will inform the future design of a scheme to replenish Santa Maria groundwater basin with recycled water.
