Northumbrian
Water Group
has named Dr
Eliane Algaard
as its new water
director. Dr Algaard, who
will join on 8 October, will
be based predominantly
at Sandon Valley House in
Essex and will be responsible
for spearheading Essex &
Suffolk Water's ambitious
plans around water quality,
catchment management,
leaks and water efficiency.

engineering director.
He replaces Graham
Murphy, who is taking early
retirement a er more
than 27 years with the
company. Crabtree has
worked for several high-
profile companies including
Tarmac, Balfour Beatty, Kier
Group and Costain Group.

Severn Trent has started work on an
upgrade project that will see 10 miles of
new pipeline stretching from Whaddon to
Minchinhampton reservoir. The £11 million
investment will deliver quality drinking
water to around 55,000 people and help
give better protection to thousands of
homes from future leaks and bursts.
Gareth Mead from Severn Trent said: "This
is a major investment for our customers
in and around Stroud as we work to make
sure customers have the most resilient and
reliable water supply possible."
